Description

The E297 machine tap from Dormer is part of the “Shark Line”, where the taps have a color coded ring on the shank so you can see at a glance which material the tap is designed to cut. In this case the E297 has a yellow ring so should be used specifically for tapping low alloy steels such as leaded steel, structural and magnetic soft steel. The E297 comes with a spiral point, to thread holes which go all the way through the workpiece and a chrome nitride coating for a cleaner, more accurate thread as it helps stop workpiece material from sticking to the cutting edges of the tool. Manufactured to conform to the German Institute for Standardization, the E297 is made from powder metal High Speed cobalt for a longer tool life and superior performance. The E297 is available in sizes from M3 to M30 for metric coarse threads.
