With a 118 degree point angle on the drill pilot and a 90 degree chamfer, the A400 from Dormer is designed to drill chamfered clearance holes for standard metric threads. To make things easier, the drill diameters are specified in metric coarse thread form sizes. Just choose the metric thread form diameter to match the thread you want to create in the hole and you can be sure you have the correct clearance and depth for standard threads. The A400 has a steam oxide finish to help stop workpiece material from sticking to the tool and is manufactured from High Speed steel which means it can be used to drill many materials including steels, aluminium and stainless steel. Suitable for both CNC and conventional machines, the A400 is a very versatile tool.
