Dormer’s E101 is a hand tap for producing metric coarse threads and is ideal for hand tapping tough materials such as steels and other heat resistant materials. E101 taps have a bright finish to make sure workpiece material does not stick to the cutting edge of the tool, ensuring a clean, accurate thread. They are manufactured from High Speed steel, giving great results and a longer tool life and the straight flute design makes these taps ideal for both through and blind holes. E101 taps are available in sizes from M4 to M16, either as a set of three separate taps (serial taps) which you should use one after the other to create the same thread, with each tap creating a slightly more accurate thread with a slightly less tapered bottom to the hole, or as a single tapered tap. E101 serial taps conform to the German Institute for Standardization.
