Manufactured from premium powder metal High Speed cobalt, the E216 machine tap is designed to produce metric coarse through holes (which go all the way through the workpiece). The tap has a bright finish to stop workpiece material from sticking to the cutting edge of the tool, thus ensuring you get a cleaner, more accurate thread. The tap conforms to the German Institute for Standardization, whilst the thread has a special design where the cutting edges in the tap are not continuous but have slight gaps in the thread. This is called an interrupted thread and means less force is needed when tapping a number of materials which includes steels, aluminium and stainless steels.
