E242 machine taps are designed to create left hand metric fine threads – so threads which go the opposite way to normal. They are manufactured to conform to the German Institute for Standardization and are made from powder metal High Speed cobalt to give a tap of superior performance with an extended tool life. The bright finish ensures workpiece material does not stick to the cutting edge of the tool which in turn means the thread will be cleaner and more accurate. With a straight flute design meaning these taps can thread both through and blind holes, the E242 is a very versatile tap for either M8 or M10 sizes and can be used to tap many materials including steels, stainless steel and aluminium.
