Part of the Dormer “Shark Line” range of taps, the E298 has a yellow ring around the shank. The colored ring on Shark Line taps means you can see at a glance which material the tap has been designed to cut. For E298, the yellow ring makes this tap suitable for threading low alloy steels such as leaded steel, magnetic soft and structural steel. The E298 is made from powder metal High Speed cobalt for improved performance and better tool life, and is manufactured to conform to the German Institute for Standardization. The spiral flute design means the tap will thread pre-drilled holes which go all the way through the workpiece, whilst the chrome nitride coating will prevent workpiece material from sticking to the cutting edges of the tool, so giving you a more accurate, cleaner thread. E298 will produce metric coarse threads and is available in a good range of sizes from M3 to M30.
