EP31 Unified Fine (UNF) taps for use in machines have a steam tempered finish to prevent workpiece material from sticking to the cutting edge of the tool. This means you get a more accurate and cleaner thread. They are manufactured from powder metal High Speed cobalt, which gives you greatly improved performance coupled with a longer tool life. They conform to the German Institute for Standardization and are designed with a spiral point to ensure efficient threading of holes which go all the way through the workpiece material. EP31 taps are suitable for threading a wide variety of materials including steels, stainless steel and aluminium.
