If you just want to hand tap a few threads of one size without buying large numbers of taps – and at the same time be certain you have the correct drill to pre-drill the hole? The L000 Tap-Drill set was designed with you in mind. It comes in a handy case containing a single tap and a drill of the correct diameter to drill the hole. Just choose the metric coarse tap size you need and the job’s done.
The tap is Dormer’s E500 metric coarse hand-tap which is made from High Speed steel to extend tool life and is suitable for hand-tapping a wide variety of materials including steels, aluminium and stainless steel. The bright finish prevents workpiece material from sticking to the cutting edge and the straight flute design makes the E500 good for tapping holes which stop part way through the material and holes which go all the way through.
Completing the Tap-Drill set is our very popular A002 drill with its specially designed 118 degree split point to help to self-center the drill when drilling by hand, so you get a good, accurate hole with no wandering over the surface of the workpiece. The tip is coated with titanium nitride to give you better performance when drilling harder materials and also increase the life of the drill.
