Pre-drilling the hole is the A002 drill. The titanium nitride coated tip makes it suitable for a wide range of materials, gives you better performance when drilling harder materials and also increases the life of the drill. With it’s specially designed 118 degree split point, the drill will not wander over the surface of the material and you can be sure of a good, accurate hole. Essential for creating a tight thread.

Speaking of threads, the tap creating the thread in this case is Dormer’s EP006H metric coarse machine tap. Manufactured from powder metal high speed cobalt, improving the life of the tool when threading materials which create high temperatures, this is a very good all round tap and can also be used in CNC machines. The bright finish means workpiece material is less likely to stick to the cutting edge of the tap, giving you a good, clean thread every time. Manufactured to German industry standards, the EP006H has a spiral point design which means it can be used to thread holes going all the way through the material.
